  • The Perfect Ending...

To a fairly good weekend. Yesterday was great hangin' with the grandparents. No big wins at the casino. Although after my granny and I lost all that we were willing to lose, my grandfather who wanted to keep playing gave us $5. We turned that into $28. Not too bad on the 5ยข slots. Then we moved to another nickle slot machine and Buddy(what I call my grandfather) gave us just $1 this time. We turned that into $20. So granny and I didn't do so bad in the end.

Today was another story altogether. I first greeted the day to the sound of my neigbor(I use the term loosely) shouting "Shut Up!" to her son at around 8:45am. After fixing some waffles and bacon and having a cartoon marathon I decided to clean my room. But before I got started I called my hairdresser to get her address for her Labor Day party later on that afternoon. So I'm cleaning and washing clothes... generally being very productive. When my mom decides that we should cut the massive bush that is hanging over our foot high fence from the other neighbor's(again using the term loosely) side. While mom is in the back cutting as much as she can, I am in the front pulling up some weird bush that "might" be a blueberry bush that is growing under our shrubs where I had planted a pansy starter earlier in the season. Trust me definitely not pansies. All of a sudden my mom comes rushing towards the house holding her hand saying "we have a problem". Houston help!!!! Mom has sliced her finger badly.

So after I pretend to not panic we make our way to Beaumont Hospital. This is where things really get interesting. So, we arrive at the hospital at like 2:30pm. We get into a room around 4:30pm. The fist doctor we see says that since the cuts are all paralell that he wants an Orthopedic to look at it. So we wait until around 6pm for the first ortho doc to arrive, look at my mom's hand for about 2 seconds, then leave saying that a more senior ortho doc will come within 10 minutes. Yeah right!! Around 7:15pm the first ortho doc and friend come, only to say that they can't do anything special, so the original doc that we saw around 5pm comes back to finally stitch mym om up! Can you believe this crapolla we waited around for 5 hours for stitches!!!!!!

My mom is now resting comfortably with her antibiotics. Thank god for 24hour CVSs. We actully made it home before nine. Just in time to heat up dinner and settle down in front of the boob tube to catch Prison Break. After the show I raced around like a maniac so that I could finish cleaning my room, shower and wash another load of clothes. Man am I pooped!!! Still trying to wind down after the craziness. I hope I can get to sleep soon. TTFN

  • Look at y'all: making a dollar out of 15 cents, as 2Pac used to say...sad to say, hospitals are mad slow when it comes to black folks. 911 really is a joke (okay, hopefully that'll be the last hip-hop reference) ...those waffles sound good, though.

  • We rich, baby!  We rich!  LoL

  • i havent been on the cata yet.  my classes are pretty cool

  • wow. Good to see your mother is ok though. 1 luv

  • Hospitals suck, period. Not just for black folks. I had to wait about 4 hours to get a spider bite looked at once which could have potentially been cause for amputation. (It turned out that the spider had injected very little venom, but still. If it had been different, I might be armless, because the doctors were busy doing... whatever it is that they do that slows everything down. )
